Skills Progression to Singapore Aquatics Talent Identification Programme

Divers in the programme will develop their diving skills in a structured progression pathway that leads to the National Talent Identification Squad Programme (SSA TID).

Pre-requisites:

  • Minimum age for all participants is 6 years old
  • Must be able to swim 25m confidently without aid in deep water
  • Participants age 11 or older should preferably have gymnastics, ballet or trampolining background.

Appropriate clothing:

  • Sports shoes, t-shirts and shorts for warm up and dryland activities.
  • Swimming trunks/costume for water activities

General lesson format

Each 90min training session consists of 3 main components: 1. Warm-up/Stretching: This would include running, jumping as well as flexibility exercises 2. “Dry-land” activities: Includes trampoline work, dryboard, somersaults on crashmats, and diving specific coordination exercises 3. Water activities: Poolside/1metre/3metre/5metre jumps and drills.

Skills Levels 1 to 7 (1m, 3m, 5m) Standing Posture, Hand Grab Forward Jumps, Back jumps, (with armswings/pike and tuck positions) Pike falls, Straight falls, Back falls. Tuck rolls, Pike rolls

Schedule / Fees

We run classes once a week on Saturdays (AM/PM) & Sundays (AM/PM).

Term Fee: $550/Term (12 sessions)

United Diving Cup 2025

24 young divers from UWCSEA and Torpedo programmes took part in the United Diving Cup on 21 June 2025 held at UWCSEA Dover. The competition consisted of 3 events: Girls Junior, Girls Senior and Boys Junior. All our divers showed great determination and tenacity throughout the competition and we are excited to share the results!

In the Girls Junior event, Ena Ang delivered a series of polished dives to earn 1st place in the Girls Junior division, finishing with a total score of 85.40 points. Close behind was Cara Liu, who secured 2nd place with 82.05 points, while Nayla Norhakim claimed 3rd with 80.30 points after an impressive final forward jump.

The Girls Senior division was highly competitive, with several divers attempting more challenging dives with higher degrees of difficulty.

Heather Lee, posted the highest overall score of the entire meet with an outstanding 105.05 points, her precision and consistency stood out across all four dives. Maya Kong followed closely behind with a strong performance and a total of 102.05 points, while Sarah Chan-Sew placed 3rd with 94.45 points, showing solid execution.

In the Boys Junior category, Garrett Ng came out on top with a score of 100.90 points, showing strength in both dive difficulty and consistency. Ethan Chan placed 2nd with 93.90 points, and Isaac Ng rounded out the podium in 3rd with 76.75 points.

Across all events, our divers gave their best, not only through strong scores, but also through encouragement, team spirit, and focus. For many, this was their first time competing, and it offered a valuable chance to be in a competition setting to build confidence in a supportive environment. The experience has set a solid foundation and prepared them for larger competitions in the future.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families who gave their endless support from the stands. And of course, a huge congratulations to all our divers, who competed with resilience, and sportsmanship.

We couldn’t be prouder of what they achieved and we can’t wait to see what’s next!

2nd Pari Sakti International Diving Championships 2025

A team of 9 talented divers from our junior and senior development squads made a splash at the 2nd Pari Sakti International Diving Championships in Jakarta, held from 15–17 May 2025! 

Kate Lai kicked off our medal winning streak on Day 1 with a bronze medal in the Novice B Girls 3m event (Group 3). Ena Ang took 5th place in group 1 while Iman Athena came in 4th in group 2.

Maya Kong, Meredith Choo, Tanya Neo and Zanevieve Chan took part in the mixed team event and won silver in a tight finish, with just 1.35 points ahead of Singapore team and 3.0 point behind champions Pari Sakti team.

Our divers kicked off Day 2 with excellent performances in the Novice A 3m event. Ava Leo came in 2nd while Meredith Choo attained 4th place in group 1. Tanya Neo won gold and Zanevieve came in 3rd in group 2. Maya Kong won silver in group 3. Ethan Chan took 3rd place in the boys event (group 3).

Our Novice A divers, Ethan Chan and Ava Leo ended the day with 2 bronzes in 1m event girls and boys events to complete the medal harvest for Torpedo.

Our young divers rose to the occasion, displaying extraordinary skill, unshakable passion, and true determination throughout a competition they’ll never forget. On the final day, they were rewarded with well-deserved moments of joy—filled with fun, feasting, and a soothing massage—before heading home to Singapore, hearts full and spirits high.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Pari Sakti organisers for hosting a world-class competition with such warmth and hospitality. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated coaches, whose unwavering commitment continues to shape and inspire the next generation of divers. And to our wonderful parents—thank you for walking this journey with us, sharing in the laughter, and making this experience all the more special. Together, we dive, grow, and soar.

14th Singapore National Diving Championship

Team Torpedo Shines at the 14th Singapore National Diving Championship

At the 14th Singapore National Diving Championship, Team Torpedo proved once again why they are a force to be reckoned with in the diving world. The team delivered a dominant performance, securing a total of 21 medals—13 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze—across multiple events. Their impressive haul underscored their skill, dedication, and commitment to excellence in the sport.

Golden Triumphs

Team Torpedo’s divers truly excelled in various categories, with standout performances leading to 13 gold medals. These victories were a testament to the hours of intense training and teamwork that the athletes and their coaches have invested. From precision dives to seamless synchronization, each gold-winning performance reflected a mastery of technique and mental resilience.

Silver and Bronze Efforts

In addition to their gold medal successes, Team Torpedo clinched 4 silver and 4 bronze medals, showcasing their depth and versatility. Even in the highly competitive events, the team consistently rose to the challenge, earning spots on the podium and displaying remarkable sportsmanship.

A Team Effort

Behind every medal won is a collective effort involving the athletes, coaches, and support staff. Team Torpedo’s triumphs were built on a foundation of strong coaching, meticulous planning, and the unwavering spirit of the divers. Each member played a crucial role in achieving this exceptional result, and their bond as a team was evident both in and out of the pool.

Looking Ahead

With this championship behind them, Team Torpedo is not resting on their laurels. The team has set its sights on future competitions, both locally and internationally. With the momentum from their success at the 14th Singapore National Diving Championship, Team Torpedo is poised to continue making a splash on the diving scene.

Pesta Sukan 2024

Pesta Sukan 2024 was an anticipated diving competition that showcases top-tier talent from around the region. Held annually, this event has gained a reputation for its high standards and competitive spirit, drawing athletes from all walks of life to compete in multiple diving disciplines.


It took place on the 3rd of August. The competition was held at the OCBC Aquatic Centre, a state-of-the-art aquatic center, which boasts world-class facilities designed to meet international standards.

The 22nd Warren Annual Age Group Swim Meet, held on June 20, 2024, at the Warren Golf & Country Club, was a spectacular showcase of young swimming talent. This year’s meet brought together promising swimmers from across Singapore, all competing for glory in various age categories.

The opening event of the 12th Singapore Inter-School Diving Championships 2024 set the stage for an exhilarating display of talent in the springboard category. Torpedo Divers from various schools showcased their skills on the 1-meter springboard, captivating the audience with their precision and grace.

Level 3 Secondary/Tertiary Girls 1m Springboard

Alexa Glossoti from CHIJ St Nicholas Girl’s School stole the spotlight in the girls’ division, dazzling the judges with her exceptional dives and securing first place with a total score of 97.95. Heather Lee from CHIJ Toa Payoh Secondary School and Lerissa Ong from Xin Min Secondary School clinched the second and third spots respectively with impressive performances of their own.

Michaela Darmoo from UWCSEA Dover delivered a standout performance on the platform, clinching first place with a total score of 60.35. Andrea Lee from Haig Girls’ School and Olive Suryono from One World International School also delivered commendable performances to secure second and third place respectively.

Pella Hoe from Henry Park Primary School showcased her talent and determination on the platform, claiming first place with a total score of 60.35. Emilia Street and Nuha Abbas both delivered impressive performances to secure second place, while Naomi Austin from UWCSEA Dover rounded up the top three with a total score of 42.50.

Asian Age Group Diving Championships Conclude with Strong Performances from Torpedo Athletes

The 11th Asian Age Group Diving Competitions came to a thrilling close at the Aquatic New Clark City, showcasing exceptional talent and fierce competition. Among the standout performers were athletes from Torpedo, who delivered commendable performances across various events.

In the Group C category, Wong Ying Rui demonstrated remarkable skill, securing third place in the 3-metre event with an impressive score of 230.25 points. She continued to shine in the 1-metre event, clinching another third-place finish with a score of 221.60, out of a total of 11 divers competing in the event.

Another notable performance came from Alycia Lim, who showcased her prowess in the Girls A category. Lim secured the fourth position in the 3-metre event, scoring 284.50 points, a testament to her dedication and talent. She also participated in the Synchronized 3m event alongside Clara Liaw, where they scored 158.10 points, securing the fourth position out of six participants.

In the Boys B category, Samuel Chew demonstrated resilience and skill, finishing eighth out of 18 divers in the 1-metre event with a score of 272.00 points. Chew also competed in the 3-metre event, securing the 11th position out of 22 divers with a score of 263.40.

Team Torpedo expresses immense pride and congratulates them on their outstanding performances. The championships, which featured athletes diving from various heights in the springboard events, provided a platform for competitors to showcase their skills and dedication to the sport.

The achievements of Wong Ying Rui, Alycia Lim and Samuel Chew from Torpedo highlight their dedication, hard work, and talent in the sport of diving. As they return home, they carry with them not just medals and accolades but also the invaluable experience gained from competing at the highest level in the Asian Age Group Diving Championships.

Technical Director – Damien Ler

Torpedo is delighted to announce that Damien Ler has joined the Torpedo coaching team as technical director and fundamentals coach.

Damien was the national diving manager at SSA for 11 years and was tasked with building a national diving programme from scratch in 2008. He led the efforts in recruitment, coaching development and club development, on top of his national team management duties. Damien left SSA in 2019 to pursue other professional interests, after delivering Singapore’s first ever diving Olympian (Jonathan Chan) in September 2019. Damien has also been appointed by SNOC as the assistant Chef de Mission at the SEA Games 2022 in Hanoi.

Affectionately known as Mr Diving in the local diving community, Damien will spearhead the club efforts in building a robust club programme at Torpedo, and provide valuable advice to our divers, parents on the diving development pathways and student athlete pathways.

Damien holds Gymnastics and Diving Coaching certifications, and is a SportSG-certified athlete life coach. He is also a FINA ‘A’ diving judge.

World Aquatics Championships – DOHA 2024

This is the pinnacle of qualifying for the Olympics for all things pool related. World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024 hosted 6 different sports – Artistic Swimming, Diving, Open Water, Water Polo, Swimming and High Diving.

Torpedo’s divers Megan Yow, Avvir Tham and Ashlee Tan has done well to put in their best efforts at the Championships.

Ashlee Tan participated in the 3m springboard event, securing a score of 217.20 and finishing 37th out of 53 participants. In the regional context, she claimed the 8th position in Asia.

Avvir Tham took the plunge at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, competing in the 1m springboard event. With a final score of 198.05, he secured the 38th overall position and 7th in Asia.

Megan Yow earned a respectable 186.40 points in the Women 10m Platform event. Despite being the youngest competitor in that category, she finished 41st of 46 participants.
